Is it mycorrhiza inoculation that saved this orchard?  We will be trying to show what types of forest soils amendments to our seedling mix aid best in seedling growth. In the meantime, we plan to use Bio-compost mulch on our open-field sites to aid in establishing seedlings.  It is expensive, about $500 per orchard, but seeing is believing!
